Sustainbility & Clothing Lifecycles
Rebirth your garment
“A resurrection
of the deserted waste into the living”
In an age where clothes are composed of complex blends, dyes, and finishes, our textiles linger in landfills, hindering degradation and releasing toxins. I urge us to question the linear approach to product lifecycles, especially with the rise of fast fashion and micro trends. Are we forever resigned to this wasteful fate?
I discover an alternative vision where the life of our clothing is revitalized. Can we forge a symbiotic relationship, where our garments become food for nature?
By growing mycelium, you hold the transformative power to break down and detoxifies pollutants, including synthetic fibers and artificial dyes in clothing. As the mycelium grows it bleaches the parts it feeds off of, resulting in a tranformed garment. Nature yearns for our care and nurture, and perhaps by reimagining our old and used clothes as living, breathing entities, we can deepen our connection and cultivate a sense of responsibility towards them.
